Harbourview Centre has become Harbourview Suites. This three-story brick building over-looking Haileybury’s waterfront is about to reveal secrets known only to a few of the region’s most senior residents.
My wife, Marianna Thomson and myself (Sandy) are residents of New Liskeard and we’re the new owners (as of September 2020).
The hotel was extensively renovated in 2005. Rooms reflect the warmth of original hardwood floors along with all new plumbing, electrics and gas plus electric heating. Wi-Fi is free as is parking for guests.
Climb the eleven broad stairs to the covered porch and enter the lobby area. A collection of period photos of the region takes the guest back to earlier times when mining was the only game in town. With a new demand for Cobalt in electric car batteries, the future of the region may see a mining and refining renaissance.
The heavy oak of the stairs to the upper and lower floors are only lightly worn from the hands of miners looking for a shower, a good meal and a bed. Maybe a beer or two at the Matabanick hotel next door. Today, the LCBO stands watch over the vacant property where this famous house once shared the same amazing view of the lake.
We decided to buy the hotel after having enjoyed a few day’s stay as a guest in one of the upper floor suites. It seemed like the perfect location for visiting professionals looking for quality accommodation in the heart of town.
We hope you will enjoy Harbourview as much as we did and we look forward to you meeting our manager, Christina. I am confident she will show you the same hospitality she offered us when we were guests.
